THANKSGIVING-INSPIRED PLANTER IDEA #1
Create a cute and colorful turkey with foam paper, cardstock, or craft felt. This clever creation will add an adorable touch to your tablescapes in bold, vibrant colors.
SUPPLIES:
- Terra Cotta Pottery
- Calloway’s Premium Container Potting Soil
- Foam Paper, Cardstock, or Craft Felt in Autumn Colors
- Googly Eyes
- Hot Glue
- Scissors
- Indoor Plants
STEP ONE:
First, gather your preferred colors of foam paper and cut out the feathers for your turkey. Cut the feathers according to the size of your container. For consistency, cut out one of each size and use it as a stencil to create the other feathers. Use up to 4 colors to create a cheerful color scheme.
STEP TWO:
Next, fan out the feathers to the proper shape for your turkey. Using adult supervision, carefully hot glue them together near the base of each piece.
STEP THREE:
Once the feather sets are created, it is time to glue them onto the Terra Cotta Pottery. Place them and attach to the container.
STEP FOUR:
Then, create the face of your turkeys. Be creative and have some fun with this step! Shape the turkey face, beak, and neck as you please. Use complimentary colors or maintain the same scheme. Glue the pieces together and complete the face with the addition of googly eyes. Attach the face to the pottery and get ready for plants!
STEP FIVE:
Fill the container with Calloway’s Premium Container Potting Soil, leaving room for your plants. Our Premium Potting Soil is made with the highest quality ingredients for continued, healthy growth.
STEP SIX:
Finally, add your favorite indoor plants. Try gorgeous Succulents or a feathery foliage like Selaginella Frosty. Succulents are a very low-maintenance plant ideal for display on bright windowsills and tables.
Selaginella features cream-colored variegation on its foliage, which gives a slightly silvery appearance. It prefers warm temperatures, high humidity, and consistently moist soil.
THANKSGIVING-INSPIRED PLANTER IDEA #2
Make an unbe-leaf-able Thanksgiving accent with faux leaves and paint pens! Use a branch from a craft store or recycle the leaves from any old decorations or wreaths. Add paint to personalize the color or use Mod Podge® and glitter for an extra dazzling touch.
SUPPLIES:
- Terra Cotta Pottery
- Calloway’s Premium Container Potting Soil
- Faux Leaves
- Paint Pens
- Hot Glue
- Indoor Plants
STEP ONE:
First, find 3-5 faux leaves in a range of colors. The number of leaves used will vary based on the size of your container. Fan them out appropriately to look like turkey feathers and glue together near the base of the leaves. Find the proper placement and glue the leaf sets onto your pottery.
STEP TWO:
Once the leaves are glued on, it is time to add the face. Grab your paint pens and carefully draw eyes, a beak, and the neck.
For a playful design, add eye lashes, eyebrows, or even rosy cheeks! Use a white pen to complete the eyes and allow the paint to dry.
STEP THREE:
Once your turkey is ready to go, add soil! Begin by adding Calloway’s Premium Potting Soil to your container, leaving room for your plants.
STEP FOUR:
After you add the potting soil, it is time to plant! Try Kalanchoe for beautiful indoor blooms. Kalanchoe is a low-maintenance succulent with exceptional, long-lasting flowers in shades of orange, red, yellow, and more.
Grafted Color Top Cactus is a great way to add a punch of color to your indoor container gardens. It is a small, curious plant with unexpected coloration and arrangement on a green stalk. Low-maintenance and drought tolerant, this plant will make for a lovely addition to your creation.
