ALL ABOUT CHRISTMAS CACTUS
Christmas Cactus is a trendy houseplant and the perfect choice to create fun color inside your home. Their blooms are like a Christmas gift, dazzling like Christmas lights. They are an easy to care for indoor plant with long-lasting blooms.
Christmas Cactus has flat succulent leaves that grow out from each other to form stems and branches. It’s an excellent flowering houseplant that can live for decades with the proper care.
This fabulous plant performs well with moderate care in any home. It will adapt to low light conditions, but it will produce more blooms in medium lit areas. Too much direct sunlight can burn the leaves. A common mistake is exposing it to too much direct sunlight.
How you water your Christmas Cactus is important. Unlike other varieties of cacti where they thrive with minimal moisture, Christmas Cactus needs an evenly moist soil while blooming to maintain the health of the plant.
This beauty comes in a variety of sizes and colors of blooms like red, pink, and white.

HOW-TO MAKE A SANTA-THEMED PLANT CONTAINER
SUPPLIES:
- Christmas Cactus
- Calloway’s Premium Container Potting Soil
- Terra Cotta Pottery
- Red Spray Paint
- Black, Gold, and White Craft Paint
- Paint Brushes
STEP ONE: PAINT YOUR CONTAINER
First, wipe off your terra cotta pottery for a fresh surface. Paint the pot with red spray paint. You will likely need to add at least two coats for better coverage.
Allow the paint to dry completely.
STEP TWO: CREATE SANTA’S COAT
Next, with white craft paint, add a thick white line down the center of your container. This will create and mimic the fluffy white lining on Santa’s coat.
STEP THREE: MAKE SANTA’S BELT
After the white craft paint has dried, it is time to make Santa’s belt. With your black craft paint, paint a horizontal line in the middle of the pottery. Make sure to leave an open area for the gold belt buckle.
Allow the black paint to dry and add the buckle.
Paint an oval shape with gold paint, leaving the center open. Fill in the center of the buckle with black paint to complete Santa’s belt.
STEP FOUR: ADD YOUR CHRISTMAS CACTUS
When your Santa container is ready to go, add Calloway’s Premium Container Potting Soil. Our New Premium Container Potting Soil helps your plants get the best start for healthier, continued growth.
Fill your container with potting soil and leave room for your plant. Remove the plant from its container and gently break up the root ball. Add the plant to the potting soil and water in completely. Add more soil if needed.
