Fiddle Leaf Fig is a tropical tree with large, bold, lyre-shaped leaves. This is a relatively low maintenance plant, and requires only occasional pruning to remove old foliage. It has no significant negative characteristics. Fiddle Leaf Fig is ideal for large open indoor spaces with bright indirect light.
Fiddle Leaf Fig grows up to 15-20 feet tall and up to 10-15 feet wide. It is a strongly upright plant and will become large with age. This plant should be grown in bright indirect sunlight, but is known to tolerate moderate light levels. Ficus plants require even moisture, good soil drainage, and cannot tolerate standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America. All Ficus species will tolerate indoor conditions once acclimated. They are often considered finicky because they drop leaves, but this is usually in response to a low light situation, being moved to a different light intensity, or from a watering problem.
