Strawberry plants do well in containers, hanging baskets, and vegetable beds. In containers, they will spill over the edge and trail a few inches down the side. In garden beds, they will form a mat with the fruit protected under the foliage. In mild winters, they may be evergreen.
Strawberries prefer well-draining soil rich in compost and should be given enough room for runners to spread. Care should be taken to not plant too deep. the top of the crown should remain above the soil as this is where the leaves and fruit will sprout from. They benefit from regular fertilizing.
